The plant history file contains materials assembled in connection with the plant's 50th anniversary. It includes copies of the local newspaper describing the building and start-up of the plant and two short plant histories: "Horseshoe Bend and the Magic Oval" (1970) and "Henry County Miracle" (1991). There are also letters to Eleanor Roosevelt presenting her with nylon stockings made from the first run of nylon from the plant with her thank you (1942) and a copy of a thank you letter from President Roosevelt for a pair of pajamas made from nylon parachute cloth manufactured at Martinsville (1943).

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born on January 30, 1882, in Hyde Park, New York. He was the son of James (lawyer, financier) and Sara (Delano) Roosevelt. He married Anna Eleanor Roosevelt on March 17, 1905, and had six children: Anna, James, Franklin, Elliott, Franklin Jr., John. He received his B.A. from Harvard in 1904 and later attended Columbia University Law School.
